The council has a bold vision to achieve carbon neutrality for the city by 2030 (on both production and consumption emissions). We will be working with partners, academics, residents and businesses to make this a reality.

with substantial strategic policy experience with a proven track record developing and implementing innovative approaches that deliver exceptional results. You will be crucial in ensuring the organisation achieves its objectives in relation to climate change.

You would lead the work to change policy and practice with an overall responsibility for developing and implementing a robust and innovative environmental strategy that improves the lives of all our residents, people who work in our City and visitors to our City.

As well as being an experienced policy expert; with a proven track record of working on climate change initiatives at a local, regional and national level to interpret strategy in to policy, you must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to develop strong working relationships with a range of internal and external partners.

To make a real impact in this role you will need a demonstrable track record of shaping policies and initiatives which have helped reduce carbon emissions alongside the ability to analyse and interpret complex information, research and data. The post holder will also have the ability to build strong working relationships with the Councillors, colleagues, key partners and a wide range of stakeholders.

You will be working directly with the Leader of the Council, Climate Change Portfolio Holder, Chief Executive and Director of City Futures as well as partners across the city.
If you believe you have the ability to lead and influence at the most senior level, we would love to hear from you.
