37 hours per week, term time only plus 5 training days, to be class based as directed by the Head Teacher in accordance with strengths and interests.

Required from September 2014, Teaching and Learning Assistants with an interest in working with pupils with autism and associated disorders. All pupils have significant learning difficulties and complex needs. The range of abilities stretches from P Levels to lower National Curriculum levels.

The post is suitable for experienced Special Needs Assistants.

Thomas Bewick is a specialist school for pupils aged between three and nineteen years with autism and pervasive developmental disorders and for those pupils whose needs can be met in an autism-specific provision.

The school has a growing reputation as a ‘centre of excellence’ for children and young people on the autistic spectrum.

The school is strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its pupils. The successful applicants shall be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure and a range of other recruitment checks.
