Required for 1 September 2014

Studio West is an exciting new studio school due to open in September 2014. Sponsored by Kenton Multi Academy Trust which incorporates Kenton School, an extremely successful secondary school, the largest in the North East, Studio West will at full capacity cater for around 300 students aged between 13 and 19.

We are seeking an experienced chef to lead a team developing and delivering the highest quality food to students, staff and visitors to the school.

This is a superb opportunity to play a key role in producing innovative, well balanced and healthy menus using a wide range of seasonal produce to meet the needs of different customer groups. As well as providing healthy, creative school meal options, you will also be responsible for the fine dining and hospitality for school events and will have the opportunity to build our outside catering branch.

As the lead and active chef, candidates must have experience of managing a kitchen and culinary team on a day to day basis and be committed to assisting with the on-going development and motivation of the team.

This post is being offered on a full year, full time, basis. However you will need to work flexibly to meet the demands of the service and this may include working some evenings and weekends, although demand is greatest during school term time.

The successful candidate must hold NVQ level 2 in Food Preparation and Cooking or equivalent along with a sound knowledge of health and safety including holding a current Food and Hygiene certificate. You will have full responsibility for management, safe storage and handling of food. Supervisory experience in a similar role would be desirable. This is a self performance role with the opportunity for you to demonstrate your exceptional organisational skills.

If you think you are the person we are looking for, further details and an application form are available from our website at www.studiowestnewcastle.com.

Closing date: 12noon on Monday 4 August 2014

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and to equality of opportunity. An enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants.
