This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work with parents and families, aiming to improve children’s achievements in school. The person appointed will work directly with children and their parents/carers and external agencies to ensure all pupils have full access to educational opportunities and are able to overcome barriers to learning and participation. A commitment to the Catholic ethos of the school and an understanding of children within their family context are essential.

The person appointed will:-
• Be committed to fostering excellent relationships between parents, carers and the community.
• Be empathetic and able to deal with sensitive issues
• Be able to achieve positive outcomes through effective communication and influencing skills
• Have the ability to work in partnership as well as independently
• Have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to empower others
• Have experience of delivering individual/group based support and of leading the CAF process
• Show a willingness to be involved in all aspects of school life.

Applicants should hold relevant qualifications and be able to demonstrate successful work experience within education, social care or the voluntary sector.

Application forms and further details are available from the school via email admin@englishmartyrs.newcastle.sch.uk and should be returned to the Chair of Governors either by email or post to the school address.

The Governing Body is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to obtain an Enhanced check for Regulated Activity from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.
