32.5 hours per week, term time only plus 5 training days

Fixed term, initially to 31 August 2015

Kenton School is at the cutting edge of modern education. With around 2000 students, we are the largest school in the North East. However despite our size we pride ourselves on retaining a family atmosphere and in ensuring that we cater for the needs of all our students, recognising their special gifts or talents.

We currently have a number of vacancies within our Learning Support team working with individual students or small groups with a wide range of special educational needs. Working with teachers and team leaders, the role involves designing and delivering interventions to help students access education through overcoming their barriers to learning.

We are looking for candidates with previous experience working with children and/or young people, preferably within an education setting, combined with a minimum of a level 2 qualification (GCSE A*-C or equivalent) in English and mathematics or be able to offer evidence of commensurate levels of literacy and numeracy. But more importantly, we are looking for candidates with the commitment, interpersonal skills and resilience to motivate, challenge and drive students to achieve their potential regardless of the barriers they face.

In return we offer the opportunity to work in a large, supportive team in an innovative school committed to the development of all our team.

Application forms and further details for all posts are available directly from our website at www.kenton.newcastle.sch.uk or by contacting us by telephone on 0191 214 2200
