Creative Apprenticeship – Cultural and Heritage Venue Operations

Base - Great North Museum: Hancock

37 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm)
Fixed term for 1 year

Please note that to be eligible for the Creative Apprentice scheme applicants must not possess qualifications higher than 2 ‘A’ level passes at grades A-C or equivalent and must not be qualified to NVQ level 2 standard or above.

Creative Apprenticeships are an employer designed and led and government supported training programme leading to recognised qualifications at level two. The scheme is aimed at those wishing to work in a front of house role within Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums (TWAM). The apprentice will gain real work experience of what goes on in the day to day operations of a cultural venue and see how the processes and procedures enable the smooth running of the venue. They will liaise with visitors to the venue and provide a range of customer service functions. The cultural venue operations pathway equips learners with a range of generic skills to widen the job opportunities available to them.

The successful candidate will be a team worker with a commitment to offering excellent customer care. Within their trainee job role they will be required to show that they can carry out a range of work activities in a variety of contexts. Some of these activities may be complex or non-routine tasks that may be carried out when they work as part of a team; they also need to show that they can take responsibility for their own work and work by themselves when needed.

In addition to working at the Great North Museum: Hancock, there will be opportunities for short placements at other TWAM venues within the 12 month period.
