Kenton School is at the cutting edge of modern education. With around 2000 students, we are the largest school in the North East. However despite our size we pride ourselves on retaining a family atmosphere and in ensuring that we cater for the needs of all our students, recognising their special gifts or talents.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, well-motivated, committed and skilled classroom practitioner to contribute to and develop our Special Educational Needs provision within our progressive and inclusive school working creatively and flexibly to help students to maximise their academic opportunities as well as support their personal, social and emotional development. The postholder will work within our Additionally Resourced Centre (ARC) supporting students with autism as well as within the wider Learning Support Team contributing to curriculum development, designing and delivering high quality lessons, interventions and resources and providing pastoral support to students.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the education, care and additional needs of students with Special Educational Needs and work purposefully to enable young people to fulfil both their personal and academic potential.

In return we offer the opportunity to work in our fantastically resourced classrooms in our purpose built PFI school building, based on the outskirts of Newcastle upon Tyne with easy access for commuting from the A1.

Application forms and further details are available directly from our website at www.kenton.newcastle.sch.uk or by contacting us by telephone on 0191 214 2200 or by email at hr@kenton.newcastle.sch.uk

Closing Date: 12noon on 22 September 2014

We are strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure and a range of other recruitment checks
