Horton Grange is a two form entry school and is located on the north western edge of Blyth on the Northumberland coast, only 15 minutes from Newcastle upon Tyne. At Horton Grange we work hard to be the best we can be. We have high expectations of adults and children alike. We support and challenge each other to aim high and achieve our goals, underpinned by on-going professional development.

We are looking for an individual with high expectations, a high degree of skill and a proven track record of impacting on outcomes for children. You will be a team player, capable of modelling outstanding practice and of driving forward improvements in teaching and learning. You will have the ability to lead aspects of school improvement against the new Common Inspection Framework. The school has made rapid progress over the past six years and as Deputy Headteacher you will be a key player, working alongside the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, in helping to take the school forward in its journey. You will be supported by a Headteacher and a Governing Body that
is committed to ongoing school improvement.

The successful applicant will:

good record in bringing about pupil progress across the primary phase
• demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning
• be passionate about raising standards and committed to developing the
potential of every child
• have high expectations of achievement and behaviour
• have proven leadership and management skills
• be a confident and clear communicator, able to support, coach and
challenge staff to produce consistently good teaching as a minimum
• understand the significance of data in setting the strategic direction of the
school as well as in defining provision for pupils and in measuring their
success
• be able to challenge yourself and others, reflecting on current practice and
driving forward change where necessary
• be able to monitor and evaluate your own and others’ practice
• be resilient and have strong personal drivers in line with the school’s
culture and ethos
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced criminal records check is required for this post.
