Further Information
Northumberland County Council is looking for a highly motivated, skilled and experienced planner to take a lead role in planning for development growth and supporting infrastructure.

The County, which is the largest unitary authority by geographic area, is a diverse and interesting place to work. Its environments range from remote rural areas, protected coastal environments, and historic sites and towns, to urban areas and towns with a rich industrial heritage and new emerging commercial sectors. Northumberland faces key challenges as it is set to see growth in the coming years to support sustainable communities and high quality environments and to complement wider objectives for the growth of the North East economy.

As a Senior Project Officer, you will be joining the Communities and Infrastructure Team at a critical time as we work towards the submission of our Core Strategy and proposed introduction of a Community Infrastructure Levy, and as interest mounts from across the County in Neighbourhood Planning.

You will be leading on key pieces of the Core Strategy evidence base including in respect of Viability and Infrastructure Planning, and developing and advising on planning policy and other strategic planning matters, to ensure Northumberland’s distinct qualities are sustained and enhanced.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact David English, Communities and Infrastructure Manager on 01670 623 619.

For a more comprehensive list of duties please read the attached Job Description and Person Specification.
