Further Information
You will work in partnership with other organisations, i.e. police, social services, in managing unauthorised encampments and meeting the needs of travellers within Northumberland. You will contribute to the development of strategies and policies in relation to the provision of services for Gypsy Roma Travellers in Northumberland and act on behalf of the council in negotiating with travellers. You will ensure that all incidents of unauthorised camping on County Council and highway land are investigated and that appropriate action is taken. You will also actively promote a positive image of the Gypsy Roma Traveller community.

You will be educated to A Level standard or equivalent with an excellent knowledge and understanding of the different Gypsy Roma Traveller communities within the UK and of the issues that affect the lives of Gypsy Roma Travellers. You must have experience of enforcement including the service of legal notices and prosecutions along with have knowledge of current inter/national laws, regulations, policies, procedures, trends, and developments, specifically around provision for Travellers of all cultures.

This post is both office based and within the community therefore you must be able to meet the transport requirements. Some Saturday and evening working may be required.
