Physics teacher
Permanent
Pay Scale – MPS/UPS
Wanted from 1 September 2017, or sooner if possible

James Calvert Spence College is situated in a beautiful coastal town in Northumberland and is a 9-19 through school, catering for students from Year 5 to Year 13.

We require a physics teacher to join us and teach Key stages 3, 4 and 5, including 2 A-level groups in the sixth form. JCSC is within easy reach of urban Tyneside and beyond, with many staff travelling with ease in the opposite direction to the rush hour traffic from Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland areas.

The students and staff are looking for a motivated individual who wants to work as part of a team to drive learning forward. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher of science to work with a very experienced team of science specialists. Science is one of the most popular courses in the Sixth Form with Biology, Chemistry, Physics and BTEC Science being offered.

As we have a small team, the new team member will be expected to teach A-level and GCSE physics. This is an excellent opportunity to develop the curriculum and make an impact, as we transition into the new suite of GCSEs and A-levels. The smaller sixth form allows for more focused groups, which ultimately lead to better partnerships between staff and students.

This is an exciting time to join us as we continue our journey towards excellence. Staff and governors are fully committed to promoting equal opportunity and an outstanding educational experience for all students.
We would welcome applications from NQTs and experienced teachers.

You will:
• Be a strong classroom practitioner, keen to develop your own skills further
• Be a positive role model
• Have high expectations of yourself and others
• Be someone with a ‘can do’ attitude
• Be passionate about improving the life chances of our students

We can offer you:
• Excellent opportunities for professional development
• A well-resourced curriculum
• Hardworking and well behaved pupils who are willing to learn
• Supportive, hardworking colleagues led by our Director of Science
• A friendly and supportive working environment with a dedicated staff team

Should you wish to informally discuss these positions further or would like to visit the college, please contact Mrs Carole Hutchinson (01665 710636, Ext 204, chutchinson01@jcsc.co.uk) to arrange.

Application forms and further details obtainable by visiting www.jcsc.co.uk or telephone 01665 710636.

Completed applications should be submitted to Carole Hutchinson, Assistant to the Executive Headteacher, at James Calvert Spence College, Acklington Road, Amble, Northumberland NE65 0ND. (chutchinson01@jcsc.co.uk).
Closing date for applications: 12 noon, Monday 30th January.
