Richard Coates is a wonderful place to work. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and well organised Teaching Assistant with good interpersonal skills to join our team who is committed to the ethos and vision of the school.
You will spend a large proportion of your time supporting a child in Year 7 with specific learning difficulties. The successful candidate will also support teachers in a range of subjects, working with children with a range of abilities across the year group. The job will be specifically linked to the individual child and therefore the contract will be a “fixed term contract”. It is expected that the child will remain with us for the duration of Year 7 and Year 8.
The pupils’ behaviour is exemplary (Ofsted 2013) and the staff are a dedicated team of professionals who work closely and supportively with each other. The school is a large middle school of 476 pupils located in Ponteland on the outskirts of Newcastle upon Tyne and has excellent public transport links, yet it enjoys the countryside benefits of being located within the picturesque county of rural Northumberland. However, we are undergoing transition into a primary school and this begins in September 2017 when we will admit children across the whole primary age.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS disclosure is required for this post as well as undertaking any training that is required for the role.
