We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Practitioner (Children’s Access and Secure Records). You will be responsible for undertaking access requests to Children’s Social Care files by former service users through the provision of a professional and personalised service.

You will also undertake work related to Secure Records, in the management of information to safeguard children, vulnerable adults and staff. This includes working closely with the police and other agencies to support investigations, court processes and other safeguarding activity as required.

In addition, there is the opportunity to contribute to training and service improvements within the Children’s Safeguarding Standards Unit.

A commitment to supporting and assisting the development of colleagues is an important part of the role, along with a willingness to take on specific lead roles within the service. An ability to work alone and with a high degree of autonomy is essential.

You must have relevant Social Work qualifications such as a degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW or CSS or equivalent and be able to evidence post-qualifying awards.

We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.

For an informal discussion please contact Jayne Forsdike on 0191 2774636.

Apply online at www.northeastjobs.org.uk.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.
