Small enough to care, big enough to make a positive impact

As a 13-18 school in south east Northumberland with good standards of teaching and behaviour, we believe passionately that every student should be enabled to succeed in all aspects of school life. Building on our recent ‘Good’ rating by Ofsted, we continue to strive for further improvements.

Joining a dedicated team of Science specialists from September 2018, you will focus on the delivery of Biology from Year 9 to 13 therefore a successful track record of teaching A Level Biology is preferable. With a strong sense of purpose and drive to improve student attainment and progress, we will support you to further develop your career and professional practice. Up-to-date knowledge of current A level specifications and the practical activities would be preferred.

Although this post is primarily to teach at Astley Community High School, you may be required to teach at Whytrig Middle School and Seaton Sluice Middle School, as the schools work together in the federation.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. It is essential that all staff and volunteers share this commitment. An enhanced criminal records check from the Disclosure and Barring Service is required for all posts.

Interested in applying? A completed application form and criminal records declaration form must be submitted by midnight on Sunday 11 March, 2018 by e-mail to achsjobs@svlp.org.uk

Shortlisting is expected to take place on Monday 12 March and interviews on 21 March 2018.
