LST is looking to appoint an experienced leader of English to join the Senior Leadership Team of both LST and its two All through Academies to lead manage and monitor Secondary English
How would you like to play your part in transforming the life chances of thousands of young people in the North East as part of a growing multi-academy trust?
The Laidlaw Schools Trust (LST) is looking to employ an outstanding senior academic leader to join the Senior Leadership teams of LST and both of our All Through Academies to lead work in driving up standards in English. S/he will be based in our academies.
As part of the LST and Academies’ senior leadership team, the successful candidates will ensure excellence in teaching and improved outcomes for our pupils at Excelsior Academy, Newcastle, and at Academy 360 in Sunderland.
The successful candidates will work closely with our principals at the secondary schools to determine policy and practice to ensure all of our pupils achieve their potential in English. They will lead manage and monitor the development of an exciting curriculum to meet the needs of every one of our learners and improve academic progress and attainment.
As members of the LST Senior Academic Leadership team s/he will work with other senior strategic leaders to develop and lead wider school improvement and education developments across the trust. This will include for example trust wide consistency in use of data, planning, assessment and reporting.
We expect our strategic leads to be practitioners, although teaching will be concentrated around training, supporting and developing our existing staff to drive up standards as well as ensuring a smooth transition from primary schools for pupils into secondary education.
Laidlaw Schools trust (LST) is a Multi Academy Trust (MAT) serving areas of deprivation in Newcastle and Sunderland. It currently comprises two all-through academies, Excelsior Academy educating pupils from 2 – 19 years with Academy 360 teaching students from 4 – 16 years, and four primary academies in Newcastle and Sunderland.
Modest growth in secondary provision is planned for the near future.
During the last year, largely due to the generosity of our sponsor Irvine Laidlaw, we have established a strong back office team that provides our academies with Financial, HR, PR,
Data, Digital Media, Procurement, Health and safety and Estates Management support. These services are located in our head office in central Newcastle.
Trustees are now establishing a team of experienced education leaders and managers to form the Trust’s Academic Senior Leadership Team. They will be responsible for working with the Trust’s CEO determining the LST’s overall education direction, policy and practice as well as leading, managing and monitoring a specialist area within our academies
