Further Information
We are looking for an enthusiastic and pro-active teaching Assistant to work with children and young people in the South East of the county in the first instance, who are migrants and refugees predominantly from Syria. These young people may have left their home country for very different reasons; they may have had very different experiences of education and to differing levels but we are looking to support their inclusion into local schools and colleges.
We want to enable them to learn English, knowing that language proficiency opens doors to social acceptance, economic security and cultural understanding.
We wish to support them in developing their language, and particularly literacy skills in their home language as we know that this plays a key role in their success at school.
It is expected that the newly appointed member of staff will work as part of our EAL team, accessing other support services when required.
For an informal discussion, please contact Judith Dodds, Manager, SEND Communication Support Service:
judith.dodds@northumberland.gov.uk
This post is for 3 days a week, term time only
