This is an exciting time to join Northumberland’s Front Door Service which incorporates the triage team.

Do you have an extensive knowledge base in social work practice; displaying positive role modelling as a Team Manager, by continually developing and leading a team of social work staff?

Are you a dynamic individual with a proven track record as a Team Manager?

As the Triage Team Manager you will play a key role by coordinating and managing the daily activity in the triage service, researching information and maximising the contribution of partners, in order to ensure practitioners are equipped with the fullest picture when making key decisions in respect of referrals.

Triage is the first point of contact for all new contacts about children, young people and their families. We help vulnerable children who may benefit from early help services as well as children in need of social work support, protection and care.

ABOUT YOU
You will have experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment, ideally with direct experience of a front door/triage service.

You will have experience of managing a statutory child protection team and be confident and competent at making decisions to safeguard and protect children.

You will always want to hear the child’s voice and ensure that this is taken into account.

You will be able to make decisions in a fast paced environment

You will be able to take a key role in planning, developing and improving services.

You will have a sound knowledge base of the Knowledge and Skills Statement for Child and Family Social Work and the application of Professional Capabilities Framework which will be embedded within all elements of practice.

You will be empathetic and sensitive to the needs of those reporting to you and ensure supervision is reflective while case managing effectively.
You will know how to measure and monitor practice and performance, to ensure individuals and the service as a whole operates to a consistently good standard.

You will be diplomatic, fair and robust enough to deal with complaints and challenges.

You will be an influential negotiator when dealing with potential and actual conflict.

You will have excellent communication skills and be able to convey complex messages in a straightforward way, both verbally and in writing.

You will not be afraid to think creatively to solve problems.

You will be passionate about maximising a child’s life chances to improve their overall outcomes.

You will care enough to want to make a difference - every day.

Reporting to the Front Door Service Manager, the Triage Team Manager plays a crucial role in:
Listening and responding to staff and partners at all levels and from a range of different professional backgrounds,
Interpreting information, data and intelligence
Communicating and giving feedback,
Making informed and evidence based decisions
Creating a positive interface for all Triage practitioners and partners
Keeping pace in a fast moving multi-agency environment
Adhering to strict timescales

You should hold a relevant Social Work qualification such as the Social Work Degree, DipSW, CQSW or CSS and be registered with the HCPC. You should also have a minimum of 3 years post qualifying experience.
