We are looking to appoint 3 Benefit Officers to work as part of the Benefits Team based in Ashington.


Successful applicants will be part of a busy team processing claims for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support, Free School Meals, Blue Badges and Local Welfare Support accurately ensuring claims and changes are processed as per the targets set.


Delivering high levels of customer care you will provide Benefits advice to our customers face to face, on the telephone and in writing.


You will be required to maintain an up to date knowledge of procedures, regulations and systems and have an awareness of other welfare benefits such as Universal Credit where appropriate.


You must be energetic, efficient and capable of working on your own initiative as well as forming an integral part of a hard working team. You should have good communication and numeracy skills as well as a good level of general knowledge and IT literacy. You must be able to work with accuracy and use your own initiative.


Experience of working within a benefits environment and knowledge / awareness of Housing Benefit legislation is required. Previous experience of Northgate iWorld and Info@Work systems will be an advantage.
