Further Information
We are looking for an enthusiastic and pro-active Teacher to work with children and young people in chosen localities in Northumberland, who are asylum seekers and refugees predominantly from the Middle East. These young people may have left their home country for very different reasons; they may have had very different experiences of education and to differing levels but we are looking to support their inclusion into local schools and colleges.

We want to enable them to learn English, knowing that language proficiency opens doors to social acceptance, economic security and cultural understanding.
We wish to support them in developing their language, and particularly literacy skills in their home language as we know that this plays a key role in their success at school.

It is expected that the newly appointed members of staff will work as part of our EAL team, accessing other support services when required. We would like an Arabic speaker if possible or someone who can break down communication barriers using IT to aid learning in an education environment.
This post is three days per week, term time only for a 2 years fixed term appointment.

For an informal discussion, please contact Judith Dodds, Manager, SEND Communication Support Service
