The Garden Cafe provides work experience in catering for two volunteers with a learning disability each day, and is located next door to the Horticultural Skills Unit, which provides training and work experience in horticulture for adults with learning disabilities. An enhanced DBS check is required for cafe staff because of the work with vulnerable adults.
This post post is for an average of 16 hours per week, with a 3 week shift pattern, which includes two weeks of 13.5 hours, and one week of 21 hours. Shift times include 9.00 - 2.00, 10.30 - 2.00, 11.00 - 4.00 and 10.30 - 4.30, and includes some Saturdays
We are looking for someone to join the staff team at the popular Garden Café at Hepscott Park near Morpeth. You will be serving customers, including using cash register and coffee machine, clearing tables, and keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy. You must be a hard worker, able to work quickly and efficiently, and a good team worker. You must have good customer service skills. You must have a commitment to training. Experience of working in a similar environment, a food hygiene certificate and a recognised catering qualification would all be an advantage.
