This is an exciting time to join Newcastle City Council and be part of delivering first class social work for vulnerable adults in the City aged 18+. We are looking for someone with strong skills, patience and focus to manage a team of social work staff. This role will include work allocation, performance monitoring, dealing with staffing issues and the training and development of a team within the Adult and Older People’s Service.

Candidates will be required to have the determination and commitment to create positive outcomes for adults and older people in the City.

The successful candidate will have relevant experience working in Adult Social Care and have relevant skills across a range of areas, for example, chairing safeguarding meetings, Court of Protection work and partner agency working, often within tight timescales. You should have knowledge of statutory requirements and local procedures.

As a member of a team managers group, you will play an important role in delivering a needs’ led professional service ensuring that vulnerable adults, older people and their families benefit from the best possible safeguarding and protection.

You should hold a relevant Social Work qualification such as the Social Work Degree, DipSW, CQSW or CSS and be registered with the HCPC. You should also have a minimum of 3 years post qualifying experience, a track record of effective leadership, development and motivation of staff including supervision.
