Required from September 2019, a suitably qualified teacher with experience of working with children and young people aged 0-25 years with Cognition and Learning Needs as outlined in the SEN Code of Practice (revised 2015).

You will be working as part of the Cognition and Learning Team within Newcastle Inclusive Education Service - a team of teachers and learning support assistant working across mainstream schools and settings in Newcastle.

The post provides an exciting opportunity to join the team at a time when specialist teacher support within the Inclusive Education Service is being developed and enhanced in relation to mainstream schools.

The post involves working into a range of mainstream schools and settings across Newcastle. We are looking for applicants with enthusiasm, flexibility and initiative to provide specialist assessment, advice and support to staff in relation to children and young people with a range of cognition and learning needs. Effective communication with parents/carers will also be an integral part of the role.

We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.

Interviews will take place during the week beginning 6 May 2019.

Apply online at www.northeastjobs.org.uk.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.
