The Service
The Council Tax Team is part of the Council’s Revenues and Benefits Service. The team is based in Ashington and administers and collects council tax from 154,000 dwellings in Northumberland.

The role
Leading a busy team responsible for the administration, billing and collection of Council Tax, you will need in-depth knowledge and experience of local taxation legislation and practice. Supervisory experience is also required. The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated and proactive, and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to support the Council’s commitment to provide excellent customer service to a variety of customers.
The role is key to maintaining a high performing service. Leading by example, you will motivate and effectively manage the team to continuously improve the service. You will assist in the development of policies, procedures and strategies in accordance with the service business plan and objectives, legislation and software developments.
You must have the ability to remain calm and logical in stressful and difficult situations. You must be a good negotiator, and able to reach successful resolutions.
