This is a new role which presents exciting and significant opportunities to help shape and develop the new Housing Maintenance and Capital service and in doing so enable the council to achieve its ambition to deliver up to 1,000 new affordable homes for rent.

The post holder will report directly to the Head of Service and will form part of the Housing and Public Protection senior management team, as part of which they will be expected to make an active contribution to the overall development of services, people and the culture within the service.

The key responsibilities of the post include: Responsibility for the development and the delivery of the Council’s Housing Delivery and refurbishment programme. Development and delivery of the Council’s housing capital and investment programme, including the creation of the housing capital programme over the longer term (5-10 years). To develop and lead on all aspects of the Council’s housing asset management policies and systems including ensuring that all asbestos related issues are effectively managed. Responsibility for construction procurement, refurbishment and supporting the delivery of the Council’s wider housing regeneration activities. Delivery of the responsive repairs and maintenance service, including the management of internal staff and external service providers across the Council’s property estate together with specialist requirements. The ability to converse at ease with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, housing tenants and other customers.

You must be Educated to degree level and member of a recognised professional Body e.g. RICS, RIBA, or other suitable evidenced experience and knowledge within the housing sector. you will have 5-10 years experience in major planned and responsive housing maintenance. Extensive working knowledge of management of construction officers/projects and a reactive repairs service. Trained in and knowledge of Health and Safety relating to construction.
