Providing strategic procurement for Northumberland County Council & Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust; the Procurement Shared Service is a ground-breaking collaboration between Local Authority and NHS. The service, now into its fourth year, provides a sustainable and cost-effective procurement service, which helps drive economic benefits and service quality for its stakeholder organisations.

The role
Reporting to the Senior Procurement Specialist, the Senior Procurement Officer will be responsible for the delivery of a defined number of strategic procurement activities across the two stakeholder organisations.
This role is designed for an individual who has experience at a Procurement Officer level role and wants to progress, undertaking and delivering more complex and specialist projects. The successful applicant will demonstrate a workable knowledge of public sector procurement and commercial business acumen, developed from previous experience working in the in the public sector. Experience of procurement within the NHS would be preferable, but is not essential for this role.
Those joining the Shared Procurement Service will have a unique opportunity to make a real contribution to shape and drive the direction of this service. Successful applicants will be proactive and enjoy being challenged by new areas and activities; they will also possess excellent communication and team working
skills.
