We are a Council that celebrates engagement and partnership with stakeholders to attract inward investment and new jobs which stimulate a proactive, vibrant property market. As part of its continued drive to secure investment and economic growth, Newcastle City Council is looking to appoint an experienced and dynamic leader of its Property Team.

You will have a crucial role in ensuring we make excellent use of our property assets and resources to deliver the Council’s aims and objectives, particularly a Working City, Decent Neighbourhoods and a Fit for Purpose Council. This will include developing a portfolio of property assets and supporting the Council’s capital programme through an ongoing asset disposal programme. You will also work closely with private sector and public sector partners to help and support the ongoing growth and regeneration of the City. Leading this team, you will report direct to the Lead Assistant Director Commercial and play a key role in the management team of the Directorate.

In addition, you will lead the review and rationalisation of the council’s own estate and develop and implement a One Public Estate initiative across the city.

As well as being an experienced general practice surveyor with a proven track record in completing complex property transactions, you must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to develop strong working relationships with a range of internal and external partners. In addition, you should possess good negotiation skills, be able to develop and drive property strategies, manage change effectively and lead the delivery of excellent services.

For further information, please contact Michelle Percy, Acting Director of Place Directorate on 0191 2115901.
