Newcastle City Council has an exciting opportunity for two new Civil Engineering Apprentices to work within our Transport Division– Technical Consultancy team.

We have a very successful apprenticeship programme in this area and these positions will offer high quality on and off the job training to the successful candidates who will be involved in:

Highway Design – designing a wide variety of schemes including major projects, Public Realm and environmental improvement and maintenance projects.

Flood Management – delivering projects to mitigate the risk of flooding including culvert repairs, property protection and interventions.

Structures Consultancy – Civil engineering works involved in the management of highway structures including new structural design, maintenance and upgrading and assessment and strengthening.

Traffic Management & Road Safety – Investigate and implement measures to mitigate traffic and road safety risks whilst delivering a programme of projects including traffic calming and road safety interventions.

It is expected that you will have achieved 3 GCSE’s at Grade A* to C or 9-4 including Maths, English and Science.
