The post holder will be responsible for the day to day inspection and monitoring of works undertaken by statutory undertakers, private contractors and local authority highways in accordance with the provisions of the N.R.S.W.A. (New Roads & Street Works Act) 1991.  Also the identification and recording of defects, issuing defect notices and issue of penalties for non compliance.  

You will have day to day use of a handheld/tablet for the recording of all inspections, raising of defects, compliance notices etc. 

You must have experience of using a laptop for writing correspondence and updating spreadsheets.  

You will be required to attend site meetings prior to the commencement of works on the highway, to agree traffic management requirements and to specify or approve appropriate working methods.

You will also be responsible for investigating and responding to complaints and enquiries.  

You will be expected to work in all weathers and will have the use of a council vehicle to travel to and from sites on a daily basis. 

You must have excellent communication skills and have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and be confident in dealing with difficult situations and managing conflicting demands.

Permanent, full time contract
