Are you committed to providing excellent services to the vulnerable children and families of Newcastle? Do you want an employer who will support you to have the career that is right for you?

We are seeking a highly skilled, creative individual who has excellent organisational and communication skills. You will need to have a flexible and fast paced approach with the ability to work to support and assist families that are in crisis and also to undertake planned pieces of intervention.

You will be responsible for providing direct support to children, young people and their families and to support Social Workers in delivering an agreed plan. You will also be responsible for supervising contact between our Long Term Looked after children and their families as well as supporting some of our young people back home to the care of their parents or relatives.

A professional and diplomatic approach is essential as the work is of a highly confidential and sensitive nature. Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge, significant experience and skill to work intensively with families. Please ensure you refer to the Job Description and the essential and desirable criteria in the Person Specification when completing the application form, as this information is used in the selection process for interview.

This is an exciting time to join us. With significant financial support from our Council we are increasing our establishment so that we can continue to embed a new relational family valued model of social work based on systemic practice across our service. Our commitment to transforming how we work has been recognised with our selection to the DFE’s Strengthening Families Protecting Children programme (read more here https://www.newcastle.gov.uk/citylife-news/education/new-project-newcastle-strengthen-families-and-keep-children-out-care).

If you would like to discuss the role further please contact Lindsey Allen at Newcastle Children’s Social Care on 0191 2115845.

Apply online at www.northeastjobs.org.uk.

We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.
