Discovery Museum

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager to lead the Front of House team at Discovery Museum. Discovery Museum is part of Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums (TWAM), a major regional museum, art gallery and archives service. It manages nine sites in the North East of England including 4 museums, 3 art galleries and 2 Roman forts.

Based in the centre of Newcastle, Discovery is one of the largest free museums in the north of England. Our collections cover local and social history, military, maritime, science and industry and tells Tyneside’s changing story from Roman Times to the present day. The building is also home to Tyne and Wear Archives, TWAM head office and is a vibrant commercial venue hire for conferences, weddings and other events.

We are seeking an experienced manager with a proven track record of leading a high performing customer service team. You will demonstrate excellent people management skills and will have a proven track record of managing performance.

You will also have experience of managing a complex building as you will need to ensure we meet the varied business needs to satisfy both customers, staff and partners. This role is an ideal opportunity for an experienced, flexible and multi-skilled manager to contribute to the success of one of Newcastle’s largest publicly accessible buildings.
