The Service
The primary purpose of Neighbourhood Services is to work with local communities and other key stakeholder organisations to improve the physical appearance and quality of life within our communities, making them more sustainable, self-sufficient and safer places. Neighbourhood Services is part of the Local Services Directorate and this post is responsible for refuse and recycling, street cleansing, grounds maintenance, countryside and green spaces and markets, also supporting winter maintenance, flooding and extreme weather response.

The role
We are looking for a strategic, innovative and performance-focused leader to join us as Contracts and Commercial Manager, delivering Northumberland’s Waste Strategy and managing the provision of countywide waste services through a team of technical officers, specialist staff and external contractors.

The role is about being innovative and continually finding opportunities to improve. You will work closely with a range of stakeholders to ensure that the way we manage our resources and waste delivers maximum financial and environmental benefits for the council and its residents.

You will take lead responsibility for managing and delivering waste contracts, including our Waste PFI and support the wider commercial development of all tradeable services within Neighbourhood Services.
