NE5 2LW.

Required from September 2020 teachers with experience and/or interest in teaching pupils with autism and associated difficulties.

We value high standards of achievement for all of our pupils and we are looking to appoint excellent teachers who will make a positive contribution to the education of our fantastic pupils. All pupils have significant learning difficulties and complex needs. The range of abilities ranges from P Levels to lower National Curriculum levels. All teachers have subject co-ordinator responsibilities; please state your particular curriculum strengths in your application.

Prosper Learning Trust was established in January 2018 with Newcastle Bridges School and Mary Astell Academy with Thomas Bewick School joining in 2019. We are striving to further build collaboration across the schools and grow as a Multi Academy Trust, whilst continuing to strengthen our relationships with schools outside the MAT for the benefit of our pupils.

Thomas Bewick is a successful specialist school for pupils with autism aged between three and nineteen years. Ofsted reported the school as being ‘good’ in April 2016.

Harry Watts Academy is a new special free school in Sunderland (due to open September 2020) for pupils with autism aged between five and sixteen years. Please note that this post will be located within Thomas Bewick School until the new build is ready for occupation.

Prosper Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and anyone applying to work within the Trust is expected to share this commitment. This position is subject to a satisfactory fully enhanced DBS check and references being received.

Please note that in all cases written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise. All applicants must hold appropriate teaching qualifications.

The successful candidates will be deployed initially at Thomas Bewick but will be expected to work at any Prosper Learning Trust site should the need arise.

Closing date: 15 April 2020
Thomas Bewick Interviews: 30 April and 1 May 2020
Harry Watts Interviews: Week Commencing 27 April 2020.

Candidates are strongly advised to make an appointment to visit our school – for available dates and times please contact 0191 229 6020
