We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and experienced economist with substantial strategic policy experience with a proven track record developing and implementing innovative approaches that deliver exceptional results. You will be crucial in shaping the city and regional economic recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.

As part of the recovery this is an opportunity for somebody to create and lead strategic vision, analysis and leadership on economic policy and modes of delivery in Newcastle. This post holder will lead the development of business cases for funding and ensuring a credible and balanced pipeline of investment – making a real difference to our outcomes and the difference we intend to make.

You would lead the work to change economic policy and practice with an overall responsibility for developing and implementing a robust and innovative economic strategy that improves the lives of all our residents, people who work in our City and visitors to our City.

Innovation, control analysis and policy development expertise are vital to ensure positive links between inclusive growth and climate change/carbon reduction. The right candidate will ensure the breadth of cross-cutting themes within the North of Tyne of service delivery methods and improvements through active engagement with the Cabinet, staff, stakeholders, partners, providers and businesses and residents to improve outcomes.

You will be working directly with the Leader of the Council, Portfolio Holder, Chief Executive and Director of City Futures as well as partners across the city.
