The Service
Electoral Services in Northumberland is the responsibility of the Executive Director of HR/OD & Deputy Chief Executive Kelly Angus, who acts as the Council’s Returning Officer and Electoral Registration Officer. Northumberland County Council is a unitary Council with over 250 thousand electors with all out elections for its 66 electoral divisions and 164 parishes, every four years. There are four parliamentary constituencies.
The role
As a senior member of the Electoral Services team you will be required to provide key leadership and support with the effective and efficient delivery of all aspects of the electoral registration process, and all elections, referendums and periodic reviews, in accordance with electoral legislation.
You should have experience in electoral services with a working knowledge of election software systems (ideally Xpress) and possess excellent administrative skills and work efficiently to ensure accuracy and attention to detail. You will be required to manage and prioritise your workload and the workload of others to meet statutory deadlines, and must be able to communicate confidently and effectively with elected members, key stakeholders, and Northumberland residents whilst also supervising staff in the electoral services team.
The post holder must be prepared to work additional hours, including evenings and weekends, during election and canvass periods.

Essential requirements:
Previous experience of working within an elections team
Election software experience (preferably Civica Xpress)
Be in possession of or working towards an AEA Certificate qualification
