This is an exciting time to join Northumberland’s Adolescent Service which incorporates the 14+ / 18+ Teams, Youth Justice Service, SORTED, the Youth Service, Accommodation Service and also includes co-located workers from Northumbria Police



This vacancy is on a fixed term, 12-month contract



We are seeking to appoint a self motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Adolescent Service but work with teams from across the County in adopting a consistent and robust approach to working with APVA and child exploitation.

If you have excellent communication, assessment and intervention skills and a commitment to high quality practice, then you might be the right person to join our Adolescent Service.



This is a newly developed post which will operate out of the Adolescent Service, however have far reaching opportunities across the County to further develop the Local Authority approach to APVA and child exploitation. The successful candidate will work at an operational level, offering:



Targeted pieces of work with the whole family to reduce the risks posed by APVA and Exploitation.





Needs assessments for those young people.





Advice and guidance to the workforce around understanding and management of APVA and exploitation.





Training to the workforce and partners around APVA and Exploitation.





About You



You will have experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment, ideally with direct experience of APVA/Child Exploitation.





You will always want to hear the child’s voice and ensure that this is taken into account.





You will have excellent communication skills, be able to make decisions and recommendations in a fast paced environment and be able to convey complex messages in a straightforward way, both verbally and in writing.





You will be able to contribute to the development of the Service.





You will be empathetic and sensitive to the needs of children and families.





You will not be afraid to think creatively to solve problems.





You will be passionate about maximising a child’s life chances to improve their overall outcomes.





You will care enough to want to make a difference - every day.
