Further Information
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated Safeguarding Adults Manager who is interested in joining our well-established and highly regarded Safeguarding Adults team. The successful applicant will join a passionate, caring and ambitious team determined to make a meaningful difference to the lives of the people of Newcastle.
This is an exciting career development opportunity for professionals who are interested in the field of Adult Safeguarding and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. The Safeguarding Adults Unit incorporates all aspects of safeguarding activity including organisational/paid worker and complex abuse cases and we have an established adult Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub. The Safeguarding Adults Managers provide safeguarding advice to professionals both inside and outside Newcastle City Council, chair Safeguarding Adults Strategy and Protection Plan meetings and therefore the candidate requires excellent communication skills.

The ideal candidate must be a progressed Social Worker with a minimum of 3 years’ post qualifying experience and be willing and able to manage a complex and variable workload in a busy environment, where priorities are constantly changing. You must have a commitment to ensuring that Adults at Risk are at the heart of the safeguarding process and be able to demonstrate this. You must be a qualified Best Interest Assessor under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and have relevant practice experience. The postholder will be expected to assist in planning the implementation of the forthcoming Liberty Protection Safeguards in April 2022.

We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful, we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the relevant barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.
As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage, even if you indicate otherwise.
