We are currently looking to recruit 2 full-time Health and Safety (H&S) Officers, 1 on a permanent basis and 1 on a fixed-term contract for 1 year. You will work as part of the Council’s Corporate H&S function covering Operational H&S, Strategic H&S and Learning & Development.

You will be required to work from home, with a future blend of office-based work in the Civic Centre, Newcastle. The post will involve some site-based travel.

The successful candidates will be involved in delivering a wide range of H&S functions including: the review of corporate policies and codes, development and review of risk assessments and H&S website content, training design and delivery, development and delivery of targeted H&S audits and initiatives, provision of H&S advice to managers in different risk areas of the business, delivery of fire risk assessments and accident screening and investigations across a range of council service functions.

The successful candidates should have recent experience as a practising health and safety officer/advisor in relevant sectors, for example: general health and safety, education, facility services, social care, waste and/or the highways/construction sector etc. You should hold the NEBOSH Health & Safety Diploma or equivalent qualification and a relevant fire safety risk assessment qualification.
