Senior Procurement Specialist

The Service:
Providing strategic procurement for Northumberland County Council and Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust; the Shared Procurement Service is a ground-breaking collaboration between the local authority and the Trust. Its aim is to provide a sustainable and cost effective procurement service which helps drive economic benefits and service quality for all stakeholder organisations.

The Role:
The Contracting function comprises two teams; Clinical, Health and Wellbeing and Corporate, FM and Environment. The advertised opportunity will reside within the Clinical, Health and Wellbeing team  The team is well-established and has positive relationships across both the NHS Trust and Council. We operate in an agile environment meaning that the successful applicants can be flexible in their work location. The central procurement office sits in County Hall, Morpeth but there are a range of other working sites available across Northumberland and North Tyneside, including key corporate NHS Trust sites at Seaton Delaval and Cobalt Business Park, and a mix of office and home-working is also offered. The team has a commitment to work-life balance and Senior Managers who understand the importance of flexibility. 

About the Role
The post-holder will be responsible for the delivery of a defined number of procurement projects, with a particular focus on the developing commercial functions of Northumbria Healthcare NHS FT, including its exciting progression into UK based manufacturing of PPE and other NHS focused products. As the role has an NHS focus, expertise in NHS procurement and/or a commercial environment is desirable, but not essential. We have an excellent record of developing our staff with varied experience and therefore applicants from other sectors are also welcomed. One thing that the successful applicants will have in common is the ability to draw on a well-developed set of procurement skills and commercial business acumen, working with a range of different stakeholders to provide an excellent service.
