Further Information
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12 month fixed term contract for a part time Social Care Assessment Officer (30hrs hours per week) to work as part of Newcastle’s Safeguarding Adult Unit within the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), providing a co-ordinated approach to managing safeguarding concerns for adults at risk within Newcastle. As a team we are continuing to develop, and the successful applicant will have the opportunity to be part if this development.
The MASH team works in partnership with other agencies to ensure a robust approach to safeguarding within Newcastle. You will therefore need to have good communication skills and be committed to continuing to build on the existing relationships with our partner agencies. You will need to be highly motivated and have the ability to deal with a large volume of referrals which come into the MASH on a daily basis. You should have a commitment to Safeguarding adults at risk and making safeguarding personal. You must be able to identify risk, taking appropriate action in order to minimise future risks. The MASH deals with situations where there is complex abuse and you need to have the emotional resilience to deal with this.
Professional support, supervision and appraisal will be provided by one of the Safeguarding Adults Managers.
For an informal discussion please contact either Kerry Cooke or Julie Brown, Safeguarding Adults Managers on 2788156.
We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.
As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage, even if you indicate otherwise.
