Your role will be to assist in the coordination of street works permits in accordance with the councils agreed street works permit scheme, national conditions and regulations for permit schemes, Traffic Management Act 2004, New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, Highways Act 1980, Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and associated codes of practice.

You should have previous experience of highway network management, street works coordination or working within a utilities/local authority or similar service background Responsibilities of the role include;-

-reviewing and processing permit applications raised by works promoters in line with relevant regulations and legislation

-resolving works conflicts and finding solutions

-imposing variations on permits and adding works comments

-granting or refusing Provisional Advanced Authorisations (PAAs)

-analysing and agreeing Permit Modification Requests (PMRs)

-responding to traffic signal applications

You will have daily contact and involvement with public and private sector organisations including utility companies, members of the public, elected members and other council departments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential along with the ability to confidently deal with difficult conversations and situations and the ability to solve problems and find solutions. You must also have significant experience of working with IT systems.
