This is a permanent contract for a class teacher/music specialist position with whole school responsibilities for the leadership, management and direction of Music.

Would you love to lead on developing musical activities, ensembles and curriculum music teaching?

We are looking for a primary music specialist with the passion, drive, commitment, musical knowledge and experience to provide the very best music education for all our children and to develop our teaching and learning in music. You will teach music to classes across our school as well as developing the subject knowledge of our staff and leading on extra-curricular activities.

You would be joining a large team of highly supportive teachers in this very popular and dynamic school where high standards of achievement in academic, sporting and artistic success are central to our core purpose. We want to make our music provision world class, and expand our orchestral and choral ensembles across the school.

West Jesmond is a large (3 form entry), very successful and happy school in the heart of a vibrant and diverse community. The school has a purpose built specialist music studio which will be the main base for the Leader of Music. The role will also include partnership working across the 7 schools of the Ouseburn Learning Trust and also the co-ordination of visiting musical companies and peripatetic musicians.

The Head teacher and governing body are looking to appoint an outstanding primary teacher with experience in teaching and leading primary musical education. The successful applicant must be able to make a real and positive contribution to the education of our children and also lead events throughout the school year.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicants will be required to obtain an Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure from the CRB and be successful against a range of other recruitment checks.
