The role
Northumberland County Council has an exciting and innovative opportunity for an Armed Forces Engagement Officer.

The purpose of this role is to gather intelligence in relation to the existing process to enable a more planned, proactive and resettlement experience for veterans moving to a civilian home in Northumberland.

This post will complement the existing Armed Forces Outreach Service by identifying where improvements can be made within the existing discharge processes. This will involve networking and developing closer links with the discharge teams that sit across the armed forces, and is an integral element in order to promote early intervention, ultimately preventing homelessness across Northumberland County Council.

We are looking for someone who understands the current issues facing veterans therefore you will also have experience of either serving in the Armed Forces or working within that environment. You will be an exceptional communicator with experience of networking and partnership working.

The ability to analyse and interpret complex data is essential to this role alongside competent technical skills.

If you are looking for a new challenge and feel you have the qualities required to fulfil this role and if you are motivated and genuinely aspire to helping people then we would love to hear from you.

This post is fixed term for 12months and is funded through the North of Tyne Combined Authority, under the Supporting Homeless Veterans Determination (2018-19).

We are offering:
A starting salary of £20,092 - £21,748 (Band 4)
Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme
A wide range of staff benefits including a competitive annual leave provision.
