“Sorted” (Substance Misuse Service) are offering a full time 18-month fixed term opportunity in line with additional funding from Public Health.
You will work as a Substance Misuse Worker (Band 6) offering advice, guidance and harm reduction information to young people, professionals and their carers. You will join a well-established team and be supported to develop your existing knowledge regarding substance use, and the impact on young people and their families.
This fantastic opportunity is open to practitioners who wish to provide a holistic substance misuse service to young people in the Northumberland area. Working as part of “Sorted”, the post holder will deliver a range of interventions from harm reduction sessions through to structured treatment.
We are looking for a practitioner who has direct experience of working with young people in a multi-agency setting and with an understanding of substance use, adverse childhood experiences and the associated impact on future life chances.
As part of the role, you will:
Carry out a shared assessment of needs and risk with young people where substance misuse has been identified as an issue and formulate an appropriate response through care planning.
To support professionals, in Northumberland, by providing advice and information on substance use and misuse, to enable them to undertake direct work with young people where appropriate.
Deliver appropriate community-based interventions on an outreach basis to those identified as needing advice, information treatment and care.
Positively promote the service to all individuals in Northumberland, with a view to expanding individuals’ knowledge of substance use and increase appropriate referrals into the service.
We would like the applicant to have the relevant knowledge, skills and experience of substance use and to understand the wider impact of this on the long-term health, emotional wellbeing and social implications of the young people that we work with. There will be support within the team to develop a deeper understanding of substance use and how to address this.
Starting Salary: £24,982 -27,741
