The Service

The Learning and Skills Service delivers employment and skills support to residents across Northumberland. Our ambition remains stronger than ever – we want every resident of Northumberland to have the opportunity to develop skills that can help them to retrain, find employment, advance their career or try out something new.

The role: Employment Support Officer

If you are passionate about making a difference and helping others then the role of Employment Support Officer will enable you to deliver a genuine positive impact to people who are looking for, or who have just recently taken up employment. You will assist Employment Coaches, Skills Tutors and managers withing the service to deliver employment support to residents who have been affected by the downturn in the labour market. This may include people recently made redundant, the long-term unemployed and those who may have long term barriers to employment. We are looking for an individual who can deliver an exceptional service to local people, be responsive to new demands with a flexible and can-do attitude.

You will be employed by NCC’s Employability and Skills service who deliver employment programmes including the DWP Restart Scheme, Building Better Futures and Job Entry Targeted Support (JETS). You will be based at the services Ashington Campus at Wansbeck Workspace and there will be a requirement for you to work on an outreach basis across Northumberland and or/virtually as and when required.

-A starting salary of £20,092 - (Salary range is £20,092 - £21,748)
