The Service
Corporate Finance provides a range of effective, efficient and high quality professional services with support to Members, managers, staff, services, schools and a range of external partners in the delivery of the Councils objectives.

The Corporate Finance Team is made up of 35 full time equivalent posts and provides all the Accountancy functions of the Council.

The Role
The post will work as part of a team of staff to ensure an efficient and effective standard of service is provided to the required standard.

The successful applicants will be the key contact point for budget managers’ queries and problems, responsible for budget setting, monthly monitoring of budgets and providing financial advice and support.

This is a temporary post for 12 months (maternity cover) and is to provide financial services to the Council’s Leisure Services provider, Active Northumberland, under a Service Level Agreement.

Applications for a secondment would be considered with the relevant line manager approval.

Depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant, the post will be appointed on either Band 6 or Band 7.

We are offering:
- One full time temporary 12 month post (maternity cover)
- A starting salary of: Band 6 £24,982 (salary range £24,982 to £27,741), or
Band 7 £28,672 (salary range £28,672 to £32,234)

Essential requirements:
Band 7 - a relevant finance qualification, e.g. AAT, a degree in a relevant subject or NVQ Level 4
Band 6 – working towards a relevant finance qualification, e.g. AAT, a degree in a relevant subject or NVQ Level 4
Significant knowledge and experience of IT systems.
Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
Ability to work as part of a team and foster a positive organisational culture.
Ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English.
