A permanent Technical Officer post is available within the Home Improvement Service of Northumberland County Council. You would be expected to advise and assist elderly and disabled clients and families of disabled children to undertake improvements and adaptations to their homes with specific responsibility for giving technical support. In particular you will be required to assist in the delivery of disabled facilities grants across the county of Northumberland. The role will require the ability to carry out technical surveys, produce detailed specifications and assess fair cost of works & ensure contractors are compliant with health & safety.

Northumberland Home Improvement Service operates across Northumberland to facilitate the disabled facilities grant, providing major adaptations to enable people to remain independent within their own home.

Successful applicants must have minimum HNC in Building Related Discipline (or equivalent), a sound knowledge of current planning and building legislation, construction industry guidelines including gas and electric installers codes of practice. The applicant wil have excellent communication and negotiation skills and be good at problem solving. It is essential that the applicant holds a full and valid UK driving liscence and be able to fulfil the travel requiremenst of the post.
