2-3 posts for our Casual Customer Service Assistant Register to work predominantly at Discovery Museum

Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums (TWAM) is a major regional museum, art gallery and archives service managing a collection of nine museums and galleries across Tyneside and the Archives for Tyne and Wear.

We are looking to recruit 2-3 people who would like to join our casual Customer Service Assistant register to cover roles at our venues when staff take holiday or other leave. We are particularly interested in applicants who would like to pick up some shifts Monday-Friday and are able to work at the Discovery Museum in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Customer Service Assistants work as part of our enthusiastic and dedicated Front of House teams. Successful applicants will deliver a high standard of customer service across our venues. You will be expected to undertake a range of activities associated with the general operation of TWAM’s museums and galleries, acting as the first point of contact for visitors, answering enquiries and providing information and assistance on the service and activities within the venue. You will also explain exhibits and displays, demonstrate interactive exhibits and may undertake group guided tours, as well as actively promoting retail and fundraising activities to encourage visitor spend.

Operating a till, handling and reconciling payments and stock control in accordance with financial procedures will also be part of the role, as will assisting with the moving and handling of collections and exhibits and the installation of exhibitions and displays.

Applicants will have numeracy, literacy and basic IT skills as well as experience in a visitor-facing role and commitment to engaging with visitors.
