You will have a Social Work qualification (MA or BA in Social Work, Dip SW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent) and be registered with Social Work England. Ideally you would be a qualified Best Interest Assessor under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards with relevant practice experience or be post qualified for two years and willing to undertake the next cohort of training in February 2022. Legislative changes are expected with the forthcoming Liberty Protection Safeguards and you will be part of the team that can influence how we respond to this. You will be joining a well-established and supportive team and your ongoing support and supervision will be provided by a Safeguarding Adults Manager.

This is an ideal post to for someone looking to further develop their career in Social Work and assist in shaping how we respond to new legislation to ensure Human Rights are upheld.

Newcastle is a great place to work and some of the benefits of working with us are:
• Generous annual leave plus Bank Holidays with the ability to buy additional leave annually
• Access to a generous, defined benefit pension scheme
• A range of flexible working options, including the ability to take two flexi days per month
• Maternity, Paternity and Adoption Leave
• Working in a supportive team environment
• Training and development opportunities, including coaching and mentoring.

We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage, even if you indicate otherwise.
