For January 2022, we are looking for a class teacher to join our successful team of passionate educators in school. This post is temporary, for two terms in the first instance, with the potential to be made permanent after this period. Newly qualified, recently qualified and more experienced teachers are welcome to apply.

South Gosforth First School is a popular two-form entry first school serving the Gosforth community. We are a valued member of ‘The Gosforth Schools Trust’ and we work closely with all of our neighbouring first and middle schools in order to learn from each other and keep developing together through shared support and collaboration.

At South Gosforth First School our key curriculum drivers are:

‘Character’, ‘Culture’, ‘Creativity’ & ‘Challenge’

These drivers lie at the heart of everything that we do in school.

If you are a dynamic, passionate teacher, who is creative, ambitious and embraces innovation, then you may be who we are looking for. If you have high expectations across all areas of school life which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils of all abilities and wholly believe in promoting our values and ethos to the wider school community, we would love for you to come and join our team!

We are strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undergo a range of recruitment checks and to obtain an Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure from the DBS.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults and dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage, even if you indicate otherwise.

We will be shortlisting on Monday 29th November and contacting these candidates to inform them about the interview process and any associated tasks. A tour of the school will form part of the interview process for successful shortlisted candidates. Interviews will be conducted following strict guidance and COVID-19 safety measures which are advocated by Public Health England at the time of the visit.

Application packs can be downloaded from the school website: www.southgosforth.newcastle.sch.uk (click on the ‘Our School’ tab, then ‘Job Vacancies’) or packs can be requested electronically by emailing our School Business Manager, Mrs Kimberley Valentine – kimberley.valentine@southgosforth.newcastle.sch.uk

Completed applications should be accompanied by a covering letter and safer recruitment form and sent electronically to the Head Teacher, Mr. Rob Adams - robert.adams@southgosforth.newcastle.sch.uk
Please note that we will not be accepting any hard copy application forms.

The closing date for applications is Friday 26th November at 12.00 noon. Teaching observations will be carried out on Wednesday 1st December and Thursday 2nd December. Interviews will take place on Friday 3rd December.

We look forward to hearing from you!
