Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums (TWAM) is a major regional museum, art gallery and archives service managing a collection of nine museums and galleries across Tyneside and the Archives for Tyne and Wear.

Tyne & Wear Archives are delivering a new project called Unlocking North-East Jewish Heritage which will create an online resource to tell key stories of the North-East Jewish communities and to widen access for academics. An innovative location based platform will enable us to tell complex stories using items from multiple collections and allow the now lost Jewish communities of North-East England to be understood in their geographic, social and civic context.

The project will develop, populate with digitised collections, and maintain a digital platform that enables the stories of the Jewish communities of North-East England to be told, and broadens engagement with the Jewish history of the region. We will develop a map/location based digital solution for archives discoverability which will be designed to tell human stories through places, and will show complex narratives in a visually compelling way, allowing users to interactively explore digitised records.

We are looking for an enthusiastic project coordinator with an interest in the history of the Jewish community in the North East, experience of planning and delivering projects and excellent research skills. It will be essential to have experience of writing reports and excellent organisational and time management skills. You will have experience of working with academics and supporting research and an ability to work on your own initiative and in a team. It will also be essential to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate strong IT skills.
